I am building a ¾ scale P-51 that was designed by Marcel Jurca. I designed an electro-hydraulic retraction system to use instead of the hand cranked system in the plans. I secured a new Parker Oldine pump, which was pre set at 600 psi. This was not enough pressure to raise the landing gear. I was searching for a Prestolite pump, and through a series of calls ended up talking to Bryan Cox of Cox Airparts. After much discussions, he asked me why not just send him my pump and he would reset the internal by pass to give me 1500 psi which would be enough to raise the gear. Needless to say, the pump was shipped to him the next day. To my surprise it was back in my hands in less than a week and retracted the gear just the way it should. I am very pleased to say that this was one of the best experiences I have had dealing with venders.
